This month, we are writing from our current season of rest. Our family is learning the importance in honoring the Sabbath and it’s taken on the form of a 3-week break in NW New Mexico. We have had so many amazing things take place over the past couple of months that we thought we’d give you brief ministry updates towards the end of the newsletter. If you’d like to learn more about any of these, please feel free to email us directly and we’ll be happy to share in more detail. Luke 17:33 If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. This verse seems so basic. But have you ever tried to apply it practically? If so, then you can relate and if not, you will soon. This is the quandary that we found ourselves in – passion for the vision of the ministry, but also letting go of the control long enough to allow God work His magic. It’s like trying to walk the beam in gymnastics…it’s way harder than it looks on the surface. Balancing the workload of the ministry with the responsibilities of family priority. This has been our reality and struggle. When we made the decision to take this time as a family, we immediately saw God’s hand of blessing in many ways. For example, the next day, we were contacted by a good friend, one of the founders of “Man Up for Orphans”. As a result of much prayer and several meetings, we have launched the official “Man Up” brand that we believe will revolutionize the lives of men and leaders through the Man Up for Orphans trips. To learn more about these trips and to watch the trailer for the amazing upcoming documentary, follow this link:http://onechildcampaign.showitsite.com/#/man-up/ God is bringing around us a team of visionaries and administrators that are all about partnering together and we believe that soon, God will open the doors for us to hire the staff that One Child Campaign needs to take the vision to the next level. We currently have the help of a couple of amazing friends that have stepped up to the plate and are keeping the ministry thriving while we are away. In addition, these visionaries and orphan advocates have contacted us to partner by facilitating mission and vision trips for them in partnership with such stellar ministries as www.hopechest.org - as of this week, we will have teams on the ground every month from December until next August! There is a trip for everyone and we earnestly ask you to consider bringing a team, your family or just yourself to see first hand the work that God has entrusted us to be a small part in. Please take the time to look through each of the team dates and pray to see which you may be able to be a part of – you can even apply online now for the trips! Our October team trip was absolutely incredible and God hand-picked each member to be there. It’s so hard to express in words the change and impact these trips can have on a person without running out of adjectives to explain what is almost impossible to put into sentences. We were honored to have the genius talents of photographers Kristen Bell of Found Lovely (www.foundlovely.com) and Jon Morton of Jon Morton Studios (www.jonmortonstudios.com) join us to document the trip through the visual arts. You can view their points of view on Ethiopia by checking out the photo album on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.229048503823343.55479.127635237298004&type=3 We so appreciate your faithful and generous prayer and financial support, each month we get closer to our monthly support goals. If you are not currently a Campaign Partner, you may do so now so easily through our online Egiving program at https://www.egsnetwork.com/gift/gift.php?giftid=04C16AF6-AFD6-43CA-964B-5F752B7CC408 Your monthly support enables us to keep serving those that God brings into our paths. The vision that God is imparting to us in this season of rest and prayer is blowing our minds and we know that we cannot do it without you. You ARE One Child Campaign. Together, we can breathe hope through the love of Jesus into the extremely complex and multi-faceted orphan crisis. Thank you for locking arms with us for the cause of compassion and justice, for the cause of Christ! Humbly, Caleb and Becca David
Fall Events In Review: October 4-15: Leaders Vision Trip in Ethiopia October 27: 8046 Conference/Oklahoma Foster Care in Tulsa, OK November 6: Orphan Sunday event at Lakeshore Church in Rockwall, TX November 8-12: Meetings and rest in Nashville, TN November 13: First Baptist Church (a One Child partner church) in Cleveland, TN November 16: Speaking engagements at Lee University & Selah College/Young Adults service in Cleveland, TN November 17-18: Partnership meetings in Nashville, TN November 19-December 12: Family time, prayer and rest | | The photo and video captures that Kristen and Jon shared has made the beauty and need of Ethiopia much more real. In fact, one of our dearest friends, Kara Diffie, was given a vision while on our December trip last year – the Alem House. You may have seen that project on the horizon on our website, but Kara was able to go back with us this fall and together with our media team were finally able to bring light to the story of Alem and thousands of other girls like her. Please take five minutes to go to this link – www.thealemhouse.com - we know that you will be moved, just as we were when we sat in her home and heard her story. Our prayer and goal with this poignant piece is that God will stir the hearts of the body of Christ to help us raise the funding needed to take girls and women like Alem, off the streets to a place of refuge and redemption. If you’d like to get involved with this project, please contact our office.
