From the Frontlines in Ethiopia...

For those of you who have heard of and been in this season of uncertainty of adoption in Ethiopia, we wanted to share with you what God has been speaking to us through His Word this past week. We, on purpose, did not publicly share all the details of what we know from being here in Ethiopia the past month because we hear different things all the time from different sources and agencies. Only God knows the whole truth. So, as we have been in the heat of the battle – we know that it's time to switch our minds and emotions from the natural and focus on the fact that this is a spiritual battle for the orphan, fatherless and destitute. We will not add anything of our own opinion to this post, but if there ever was a time for the church to rise up and fast, pray and be moved to action for the cause of the orphan and destitute – it is now.

In Proverbs 24:11-12 it says, "Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death. Don't excuse yourself by saying, 'Look, we didn't know.' For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve."

So , this is an email to encourage you with the Word, but also a call to action for you to be stirred up to fast and pray using nothing but the infallible Word of God as your sword and the spirit of faith as your shield. This is a battle, but we have been guaranteed the victory.

"Do not be afraid! Don't be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but the Lord's...the king (Jehoshaphat) appointed singers to go before the army singing, 'Give thanks to the Lord, his faithful love endures forever!'…it is still called the Valley of Blessing to this day." 2 Chronicles 20

"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him." Psalm 125:5-6

"Listen in silence before me, you lands beyond the sea. Bring your strongest arguments. Come now and speak. The court is ready for your case. Who has stirred up this king from the east, rightly calling him to God's service." Isaiah 41:1-2

"You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail." Proverbs 19:21

"The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord: he guides it wherever he pleases." Proverbs 21:1

"Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end." Proverbs 22:8

"…don't take the land of defenseless orphans, for their Redeemer is strong; he himself will bring their charges against you." Proverbs 23:10-11

"…this is the message from the One who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What He opens, no one can close; what He closes, no one can open. I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me…they will acknowledge that you are the ones I love." Revelation 3:7-9

Read Isaiah 58:6-12 – this has been my favorite Scripture over the past year and NOW I understand why.

6Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.

   9Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

10And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

11And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

12And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
