It's finally time for us to leave for Ethiopia to get our son, Huxley! In all of the craziness that is our life and ministry, we need to officially share that we got our referral for our boy on February 23rd. This time, I (Caleb) was at the airport with my brother headed to Guatemala and Becca was at home. Strangely enough, when I woke up that day, I just had a feeling. We couldn't be more thrilled…and his referral pictures look so much like Sakari when she was a baby.
Anyway, now it is the end of May and we headed to the airport where several of our family and friends sent us off for our first flight to Washington DC. We had a great flight and once we got all checked into our hotel for the overnight stay, our dear friends, the Kidd family came by and picked us up. We had such an incredible time with them and their family as we caught up, talked about adoption, Ethiopia and orphan care. The kids played their hearts out and after felt like about 20 minutes, we realized it was a couple hours past all our kids' bedtime! It was just what we needed before we got on a plane for Africa.
Sunday, we woke up and got our HUGE pile of luggage over to Dulles to check in…we ended up checking 9 suitcases and carried on about 5 or 6. We wanted to be as prepared as possible. We ended up being charged $450 for our extra bags. Around noon, we got on the brand new Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 777 for our direct flight to Addis Ababa.
