Announcing the Winners of the iPod Nano, $50 iTunes and $50 Target Gift Cards - Watch!

Thank you all for your giving and as a token of our thanks, we drew names to give away some great gifts! With your help, we were able to raise right at $1,000 towards our adoption!!!! This comes at a perfect time as we just found out that our homestudy expires next week and we have to re-do that and all the additional expenses, paperwork, medical exams, financial reports, etc. We were very overwhelmed, but your response has been so encouraging to us. Thank you again!

The video announcement is posted on my (Caleb David) wall on Facebook and also on my Twitter account (calebdavid) - you can go see if you are the winner!

Love,

Caleb, Becca and Sakari

Thrilled to Announce - The Giving Experiment of 2011!

One Child Campaign and Brent Taylor have combined efforts to launch “The Giving Experiment”. It’s a simple experiment to see how many people from all over the world will be inspired to give with this simple call to action. The goal is that we reach: One Million people to give One Buck to help orphans, widows and the destitute. Be part of the movement, join The Giving Experiment FB Group, donate and spread the word…

www.thegivingexperiment.org

We are relying on our contacts and the One Child group, partners and supporters to help us get the word out on this experiment. It's a little unusual, but that's what we love about it - it ties into our vision, one person can affect way more than we could ever imagine. Simply by helping us spread the word and reaching a million people, each of them donating a buck - will cause a ripple effect in the lives of thousands of orphans. It's simple and we can all do it, donations can be given online at www.thegivingexperiment.org or via snail mail at:

P.O. Box 702441
Tulsa, OK 74170

Our hope and prayer is that this "experiment" will generate an incredible buzz and create some amazing momentum while bringing the ultimate goal of raising awareness for the cause of the orphan.

Love to you all,
Caleb and Becca

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***
We are not sure why the giving link isn't working but we are looking into it! Thank you to those who have already let us know...you can give via the donate button on our blog at http://theofficialonechildcampaign.blogspot.com/ or we also thought it would be amazing to have our P.O. Box 702441 Tulsa, OK 74170 FLOODED with envelopes from all over the nation/world with $1 bills (or any donation amount people feel to give) - so we say, let's make everyone notice and get the plight of the orphan on the forefront of everyone's mind. Thank you again!!!!

Waiting and Counting Down the Miles

WAITING…

…and waiting and waiting. This seems to be our current stage in our adoption. Now, this doesn’t mean waiting in the sense of sitting around doing nothing. It’s more like one would wait on tables – busy with doing, cleaning, planning, living, preparing, etc. We’re definitely not living boring lives. We have decided to treasure every minute that we have with Sakari with her being an only child for as long as we can, as we also do our best to prepare her and ourselves for the addition of two more. We have been setting up a new bed for Lucy in Sakari’s room, adding special touches for her. We have set up the crib and are working on a Curious George theme for Hux. This helps keep our minds off of the fact that we have not received our referrals, but for those of you who have walked this road, you know that feeling that you’re in the “ninth month”. This is where we are right now. We have also had fun putting up all our Christmas stuff and had a good friend, Jen, swing by and hang out with us for a day. Enjoy our recent pics...post continued below the pictures...

COUNTING DOWN THE MILES…

As we prepare, we also know that we have the financial aspect to continue working on to bring them home. We are in the home stretch and to make this manageable for us to wrap our minds around and communicate to our friends, family and supporters – Becca broke this down into a mileage format, so that we could share it and ask our friends and family to pray about sponsoring miles ($1/mile) to bring them home. Interestingly enough, the amount we need to raise is almost exactly how many miles we will travel to Ethiopia and back to pick them up. With the changes in the Ethiopian government’s procedures, the costs increased as families now either have to travel twice or stay in Ethiopia several weeks to wait for finalized paperwork. Our decision is to stay in Ethiopia to host One Child Campaign teams (you can join a team!) and be with our kids to bond and serve together. It actually ends up being less costly than if we travel twice.

We also have some fun things to give away – but here’s what this looks like broken down:

16,312 miles to bring our kids home

$15=15 miles need 1087 people
$50=50 miles need 326 people
$100=100 miles need 163 people

So, here we are waiting and counting down the miles…grateful for you and trusting God every step of the way!
